The mortality rate in India due to smoking related diseases will reach upto 10 lakh per year in 2010. But what the Government is doing, it is just increasing the fine for smoking in public areas and introduced mandatory pictorial warnings. Why the Government can not ban these merchants of death. Here is the statistics of tobacconomics which prevents the Government from imposing a ban.
