Difference betwenn synthase and synthetase

Synthase
  • An enzyme.
  • Usually a lyase.
  • Catalyzes synthesis of any substance.
  • No breakdown of a pyrophosphate bond like ATP's.

Synthetase
  • An enzyme.
  • Usually a ligase
  • Catalyze the joining together of two molecules.
  • Breakdown of a pyrophosphate bond like ATP's or other triphosphates.
